Responsible for component development for brake modulation systems from concept phase to series production launch.
Responsible for establishing the operational structure and guiding his/her team in global engineering projects using industry standard engineering tools and methods.
Also responsible for recruiting, training and developing staff.
・Provide technical leadership for hardware unit and component engineering.
・Provide leadership for product issues and task forces management.
・Provide leadership for engineering efficiencies and Value Engineering Value add (VEVA).
・Provide leadership for training and coaching staff. (Competence management)
・Provide leadership and strive for top level processes, methods and tools for hardware unit and component engineering.
・Develop component level roadmap for hardware unit and components aligned with The company product roadmap.
・Provide technology plans consistent with market needs and future technology trends.
・Provide budget and HC planning aligned with The company roadmaps and strategy.
・Support global project organization and resources management to ensure proper resources for generic product development projects (Matrix Organization)
・Participate in customer and supplier reviews
・Develop and provide strategies for engineering partnerships (Companies, Universities)
・Participate in The company monthly Project Reviews.
■Education, Experience and Skills Requirements:
・Minimum education: 4 year bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering field from an accredited university either in Japan or abroad. Master’s degree in technical field preferred.
・Minimum 10 years experience in automotive component development and 5 years of management experience (Project management and/or direct reports)
・Excellent technical and leadership skills, open personally capable of engaging, motivating and inspiring employees at the personal level.
・Proven ability to build and lead teams capable of working internationally across cultural, language and distance barriers.
・Excellent communication skills and full professional language proficiency in both English and Japanese.
・Extensive knowledge in automotive engineering processes, methods and tools such as DFMEA (Design Failure Mode and Effect Analysis) , DRBFM (Design Review Based on Failure Mode), Systematic Problem Solving, 5Why, Shainin, Design for 6 Sigma. Certifications preferred but not required.
・Extensive knowledge of mechanical component design simulation tools: CAD, CAE, Matlab
・Extensive knowledge of international standards for automotive system design processes such as APQP, VDA and TS16149 for example
・Previous experience with brake system component design preferred
